Social media has changed.
Social media is always changing.
Shoot, it’s changed so much from when I first started that I don’t hardly recognize it anymore.
But has it really changed? We talk a lot about change in this industry, and how we need to strive to make things better, but is that really changing the platform? The statement remains the same. We need a new social media built on the backbone of consistency.
The Idea of Social Media
If you are still seeing the same old social media, then perhaps you are doing something wrong.
The social media industry is kinda like those fairy tales that you read about. If you have a pure heart, and good intentions… Let’s face it, you may have started your business on social because you see the value that it can bring you.
The idea of social marketing is to entice and lure people to your site to purchase your products, whatever they may be.
The social platform is a place where we are pronouncing ourselves heroes to strangers and hoping that one of them believes us. I think the first impression that a business has on social is that they’re going to make money by implementing various strategies.
That’s the idea.
This is the thought that you have that helps you cultivate a professional strategy that makes you successful. Don’t get me wrong, the idea is a good one to have, and it must never be forgotten. But you can’t let that idea take full control of your strategy, because this guy is reckless and careless. He doesn’t care who gets in his way, as long as he gets what he wants, he is happy.
The idea needs to be bridled and controlled so you don’t lose thought to what you really need to be doing on social media for that idea to become reality. You can always tell when a person or business has allowed ideals to take control because they have no regard for the social follower. Throwing their wares out on all sides giving no regard for the people around them. I remember those days…
I used to be that person
Social Media Doesn’t Change
No matter how much we preach it, social media will never change.
The platform and the “idea” of the platform will always be the same.
You have the seller (You), the buyer (follower), and the website. You’ve got to learn how to marry all three of these things successfully to learn how social media is never changing.
The one thing that has to happen is that you need to change your mind about how you do social.
You need to change.
WE need to change.
Social media will always be the platform where we can go to make friends, catch up with our family, or build our business. It’s how you idealize your social marketing.
If you feel the need to suddenly start promoting yourself all the time without concern or cause for others, then that may not be a good thing.
People won’t take action until we provide something positive for them to take action on.
They respond to help, kindness, and information.
Turn Your Thinking Around
In order to become successful on social media you have to be able to turn your thinking to the followers.
You have to genuinely desire to help them meet their goals and put them before your own business.
The new social media is built on trust, and trust comes from serving others and putting yourself on the back burner for a while. The road to success is paved with servitude, and there’s plenty of room for you.
We don’t need to learn how to post differently.
We don’t need to know psychological prompts to “trick” people to come to our website.
We don’t even need fancy click bait titles!
All you need is the true desire to help someone else. That creates a new idea of social media for your strategy, and, in turn, starts to build something great for your business.
