At first, I was a little skeptical about the new Google Plus circle management tool called CircloScope. However, the more I used it, the more I realized that not only was this saving me time, but it was also connecting me with targeted people that I needed to stay visible to.
Using Google Plus circle management successfully
Managing your circles on Google Plus should be one of your top priorities. If you are new to this platform and are taking it all in, then you should download the free version of CircloScope here. Understanding that people are in your circles, and its in this that you have to manage and select different people and place them in pertinent circles is what will help you get the most out of your social media engagement on Google Plus.
But the end result for all social marketers is to direct people to what we’re doing. For me personally I have two things I like to do with my circles and CircloScope is perfect for this.
Staying connected with your audience
Staying connected is important if you’re going to direct them to where you want them to go. Not only that, but to show them your calls to action when they get there is very important as well. I mentioned two strategies above. With Google Plus circle management tools you can do this easily! Here’s what I was talking about:
- Blog Notification Circle– This is where people opt in (like an email list) on Google Plus to be notified when you publish an article on the platform. Take this article for example, when I publish this to Google Plus, there will be a circle that I have already created with people in it that will be notified of my posts. This brings more engagement and more shares on the platform, and of course, more traffic to the site.
Its important to understand that you don’t publish everything you post on Google Plus to your Blog Notification circle. This will eventually get you banned or suspended from the Google Plus platform because people will report you as spam. However, given my condition, I only publish one blog post per week, so the people in the circle get the notification once. You may also click the email button as well (some people disagree), but I only do this because I have told people that’s what they can expect.
Don’t place anyone that doesn’t ask in your notification circles of any kind. That’s not the proper etiquette and you will end up hurting yourself more than helping.
How CircloScope Helps With This:
I used to have to go into Google Plus and do this manually. However CircloScope makes it easy to manage the people in my blog notification circles by creating adaptive columns and making organization easier. It’s a way for me to be different in marketing. If I need to move some people around, all I have to do is click their profile. From their I can put them in other circles, white list them, black list them…whatever I need to do. But you need to remember the blog notification circle is your baby. These are the people that have asked you to be in your notifications so treat them with respect.
One of the things I like doing with these people is to get to know them. Make a note of which people you have talked to and which people you need to pay more attention to as well using this tool.
On to the 2nd Strategy:
- Hangout Notification Circle- This works almost exactly the same way as above however, I am just separating people into a circle for my weekly relationship marketing show. If you are a guest on a lot of hangouts or you have a show yourself, then this is something that I recommend that you do as well. Remember the key is to stay connected with people.

Using Google Plus circle management for connections
One of the most powerful ways that I use CircloScope for is to find new people to engage with me. This usually takes a lot of time when you’re doing it manually because there is so much research involved with it. With CircloScope it’s very simple.
One of the things that all bloggers know is that in order to become a successful blogger, you have to have readers that want to read your articles. This brings for a more targeted audience and therefore more action on your blog when they get there.
Social is the best place to look for these people. Without CircloScope one could literally take years to find people like this. But thankfully, you don’t have to wait years to find people like this.
Not a popular blogger? That’s ok!
Even though you may not have a large following, with Google Plus circle management tools like this you can still build a targeted audience from a popular blogger. Take a fellow relationship marketer, Mari Smith for instance. She’s got a very active following, and she writes about blogging, relationship marketing, and social media…so if that’s your area of expertise, then you can do the tip below. I’ve heard it called stealing someone’s followers…but of course that’s not the case, that’s just the way people jokingly refer to it.

In the end, its about using what you have to bring people closer to you and your content. How else could I get noticed with people I would not have normally been connected with without a product like this? That’s the important thing here, it’s not about padding your numbers, but about finding people that care about content that you write and people that will engage with you on it.
